Missions Ministries
For over 100 years, we have been committed to fulfilling the great commission of Jesus to, “go and make disciples of all the nations.”
We desire to see God’s Word have a world-wide impact by encouraging and facilitating members serving on short term mission trips, mentoring those who desire to serve in full time ministry, and to send and support those who obey God’s call to full time ministry.
We support full time missionaries and organizations around the world in prayer, finances, and encouragement.
Pastoral & Leadership Training
2010 Goal: to reach 1 million people with the gospel by encouraging and training 10,000 pastors in Africa.
- March, a Pastoral Leadership Training conference was held. Nearly 9,000 pastors received John McArthur Study Bibles and were exposed to expository preaching.
- August, 2 leaders from First Baptist Church traveled to Africa to teach Theology to a group of 50 Pastors.
2011 Goal: to reach 2 million people through pastoral training.
Church Planting & Ministry Enhancement
2010 Goal: to plant churches in the central area of Africa and to assist like minded US churches with their local outreach ministries.
- August, a FBC team of 23 helped start a new church in central Africa. They traveled from hut to hut in rural villages. More than 4,600 people heard the gospel and 945 of them trusted Christ for their salvation. Over 550 believers attended the first service of the new church.
- Summer ministry teams assisted US rural churches with Vacation Bible School and student outreach ministry.
2011 Goal: to assist in planting 6 new churches in Africa.
Compassionate Care Ministries
Famine Relief: In September 2009, FBC took a special offering to assist central African Christians in a desperate time of famine. Those families then shared their food with neighboring villages. Their sacrifice resulted in local pastors planting two new churches. In April, 88 new believers were baptized.- Clean Water: In 2010, FBC sponsored the digging of a deep well to provide clean, safe drinking water for thousands living in central Africa.
- Orphan & Street Kids—several times a year, ministry teams travel across the border into Mexico to minister to children. Our teams work with three organizations to meet physical needs, serve meals to kids, and support an orphanage with building supplies, clothes, and encouragement.
Last summer many of our college students served overseas in orphanages, street ministries, and archeological digs.
